🙏 Taking stock of 2023

#012

Hello everyone and welcome to the last newsletter of the year!

The end of the year seems a perfect moment to tell you about one of our favourite expressions:

To take stock

In Spanish it could be one of the following: hacer balance, hacer inventario, or simply evaluar or examinar.

At the end of December I like to take stock and think about the positives and negatives over the past year.

For example, in the positive column, we started this newsletter to write to all of you.

So before 2023 turns into 2024, take a moment and take stock of your year.

Write to us and share your wins this year.

For one, if you’ve been reading this I’m sure you have improved your English over the past 12 months!

So congratulations to you!

See you in 2024 x

This week’s 3 tips:

SOMETHING TO AVOID 🫣

🤦🏻‍♀️ ‘The next year’

We don’t need to say ‘the’. So never say:

The next week we will go to France. Or…

The next month we will see you

‘Next year’

Just say ‘next’ + week/month/year:

Next week we will go to France

Next month we will see you

SOMETHING TO SOUND CONFIDENT 🧐

👔 Business jargon explained

‘In the pipeline’

In the process of being planned or developed.

The company has some new products in the pipeline
