🔵 Blue Monday, 🟢 Green lights & 🚩 Red flags

#014

Good morning everyone!

Welcome to an overcast (nublado/cubierto) day in January.

The festivities of the last few weeks are behind us.

Next Monday is supposedly ‘Blue Monday’.

The third Monday of the new year is said to be the most depressing day of the year. 🙁

It’s always interesting how we use colours in language.

🔵 How feeling blue is to feel down.

Paula is feeling blue at the moment.

🟢 How a green light means you can continue.

My boss gave us the green light! Our project is approved!

🚩🚩🚩 And you must have heard about red flags. 🚩🚩🚩

He was always very jealous. For me that was a red flag!

Anyway, wishing you all a cheerful week! 🙂

Feeling sad = Feeling blue

This week’s 3 tips:

SOMETHING TO AVOID 🫣

🤦🏻‍♀️ ‘You have reason’

Don’t translate ‘tienes razón’ this way!

‘You’re right’

‘Tener razón’ in English it ‘to be right’.

You’re right, it was a good idea!

I was right!

SOMETHING TO SOUND CONFIDENT 🧐

👔 Business jargon explained

‘Touch base’

To talk to someone briefly about something. Usually to find out how they are or what they think about something.

My team works remotely, but we all touch base every Monday.
