🍸 Dry Jan?
#015
Morning everyone!
Blue Monday is behind us, but for many it is still a ‘dry January’.
‘Dry January’? - It rained last week!
Ha ha, no. Dry January is when you don’t drink alcohol for the whole month.
The whole month? But why would I do that?
Well it is becoming increasingly common for people to take a month off drinking, perhaps because they drank a bit too much last month.
Yes well in the UK they drink a lot!
Less than France and Germany apparently. Check out the article below.
Anyway, lots of people are ‘sober curious’. That is that they are questioning their relationship with alcohol.
But this doesn’t mean they are committed to becoming ‘teetotal’ right? As in someone who completely abstains from alcohol?
Not necessarily. For example, many don't ‘cut out’ alcohol completely. But they decide to ‘cut back’ and reduced the amount they drink.
I’ll drink to that.
Me too. In February.
Counting down the days
This week’s 3 tips:
SOMETHING TO AVOID 🫣
🤦🏻♀️ ‘I’m not enough strong’
When enough is used with an adjective it is translated as ‘suficientemente’.
✅ ‘I’m not strong enough’
This means that we need to place ‘enough’ after the adjective. Never before!
He isn’t quick enough to win the race
She was strong enough to complete the challenge
SOMETHING TO SOUND CONFIDENT 🧐
👔 Business jargon explained
‘Dodge a bullet’
To, narrowly, avoid a difficult or uncomfortable situation
My god, we really dodged a bullet there. I just found out the building has problems with its foundations. I’m so glad we didn’t buy the flat.
