😐 This is fine
#021
“Fine” is a strange word.
“Fine dining”, “fine art” or “fine jewellery”, is of the highest quality.
But when you say “it’s fine”, it’s more like “ok”, or “satisfactory.” That there’s no problem.
No problem here
Perhaps you are accepting something. “Fine, let’s do it your way.”
It can be something that is very thin or small, like a fine line or a fine powder. Whereas a fine day is one that is clear and sunny.
It’s not always an adjective. Once I was fined for parking in the wrong place (verb). I was given a fine which I had to pay (noun).
Next time you almost miss a flight or a train, you can turn to your partner and say, “phew, we were cutting it fine.”
You’re “cutting it fine” when you’re running late
