šøPutting the band back together
#047
I donāt know if youāre a music fan.
But I am.
This week the British band Oasis have announced they are reuniting.
You probably know some of their songs, but in case you donāt Iāve put some at the bottom of the email for you to enjoy.
The band is led by two brothers, Liam and Noel, who have set aside their differences to play shows again for the first time in 15 years.
It reminded me of the expression putting the band back together.
Just like they do in the film the Blues Brothers. What a film.
This week, make sure to listen to some music and try to follow the lyrics!
Until next week š¶
People all across the UK were delighted at the news
This weekās 3 tips:
SOMETHING TO AVOID š«£
š¤¦š»āāļø āI like music veryā
The sentence above sounds terrible. Honestly, it sounds awful.
That said, if you add āmuchā at the end, it actually sounds quite sophisticated.
Sophia likes music very much
Iām sure I would enjoy the Oasis concert very much
(and no, you canāt say āI like music muchā)
ā āI like music a lotā
āA lotā isnāt the best or the most sophisticated word in English, but itās common and serves a purpose.
I used to listen to that band a lot
You will have to pay a lot if you want to buy tickets
SOMETHING TO SOUND CONFIDENT š§
āPutting the band back togetherā
The expression refers to reuniting a group of people who previously worked well together, often to recapture their former success or effectiveness. It suggests that the collective strengths and chemistry of the original team are needed to tackle a new challenge, revive a project, or achieve a similar level of success as before.
After the company's recent setbacks, the CEO decided it was time to put the band back together and bring back the original leadership team to turn things around.
