Hello everyone,
As LA burns and the UK freezes we have been considering how fortunate we are.
Currently we are in Vietnam and it has been a hectic week (una semana frenética).
Which is my excuse as to why this newsletter is late. Apologies 🙏.
Hanoi is a bustling (ajetreado) city full of motorcycles with everyone honking (tocando el claxon) at everyone, all the time. Intense.
That said, the north of the country has been great. We were in Sapa, which is very close to China, in Ninh Binh and then Halong bay.

China was “just a stone’s throw away”
We have been listening to some podcasts to understand more or to “get to grips with” the country and it’s history.
Frequently films such as Apocalypse Now or The Deer Hunter are mentioned. It turns out that (resulta que) Krystallo has watched zero films about the Vietnam war.
She is a big fan of a hotpot after a hike though.

The beef hotpot was a win.
We hope you’re all having a good start to the year and look forward to seeing you all soon!

Thumbs up for Vietnam so far
This week’s three tips:
SOMETHING TO AVOID 🫣
🤦🏻♀️ “Where did you went?”
Please, no doubles. In this case no double past. Remember not to use the verb in the past when asking a question.
✅ “Where did you go”
If it’s a question just use the auxiliary did and the verb in the present.
What did they say?
When did they arrive?
SOMETHING TO SOUND CONFIDENT 🧐
Expressions
“Bucket list”
A bucket list is a personal list of things you want to do, experience, or achieve during your lifetime. The term comes from the phrase “kick the bucket,” meaning to die — so a bucket list is what you want to do before you die.
Visiting Japan has always been on my bucket list

We can tick off Halong bay from our bucket list
SOMETHING CURIOUS 🤔
