šŸ”« I'm getting fired

#071

Someone I followā€”who built a successful online education businessā€”once said:

Fire yourself from at least two jobs every year. Otherwise, you donā€™t have a businessā€¦ You have a job.

Olly Richards

So, to build a business, thatā€™s exactly what I am doingā€”firing myself.

(Though if you ask Krystallo, sheā€™ll say that she fired me.)

Now, whether Iā€™m really getting fired from a ā€˜jobā€™ is debatableā€”ā€˜tasksā€™ might be the more accurate word.

But since ā€˜jobā€™ can also mean ā€˜taskā€™ (tarea)ā€”not just your profession or ā€˜roleā€™ (puesto de trabajo)ā€”I guess that means Iā€™ve been fired from jobsā€”plural.

Either way, Iā€™m out of admin.

I have no reason to be upset about it.

My performance? Fine. But my attitude?

Lacking, shall we say.

And I knew it.

So, from now on, you might start receiving emails from:

Theyā€™re here to keep things running smoothlyā€”handling invoices, attendance, certificates, and whatever else you need.

But donā€™t worry, weā€™ll be in copy.

And as for me? Iā€™m happy. Iā€™ve freed up time.

Iā€™m getting fired!

Having tasks taken away from you is great

SOMETHING TO AVOID šŸ«£

šŸ¤¦šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø ā€œHe hasnā€™t to do itā€

Youā€™re looking to translate no tiene que, but the above doesnā€™t sound right. One way of expressing this idea would be to say she hasnā€™t got to. Although this is a more colloquial style.

She hasnā€™t got to do that task anymore.

āœ… ā€œHe doesnā€™t have to do itā€

Remember the auxiliary verb when you want to put a verb in the negative. He has to becomes, he doesnā€™t have to.

There are various tasks that she doesnā€™t have to do anymore

SOMETHING TO SOUND CONFIDENT šŸ§

šŸ‘” Business expressions

ā€œGeo-arbitrageā€

Geo-arbitrage means taking advantage of cost differences between places. People do it by earning in a high-wage country while living somewhere cheaper. Businesses do it by outsourcing work to lower-cost regions while keeping quality high.

Individual: Sarah works remotely for a U.S. company but lives in Bali, cutting expenses through geo-arbitrage

Business: A startup outsourced software development to India, reducing costs without sacrificing quality
