⚙️ Grind it out
#078
Every other Sunday, I head over (ir) to the stadium in Gràcia to watch the football club CE Europa play.
This weekend, they won 2-1.
It wasn’t an easy victory. In fact, I would say they ground out the result.
They didn’t win through flair or inspiration, but through grit (tenacidad), determination, and pure effort.
It made me think of the year so far. From January to the approaching Easter week, which has come around late this year.
It has felt like a long time, week after week with not a single day off.
I’m sure that many of you have felt that you have been grinding it out - steadily working hard and perhaps a little low on energy. But ultimately getting the job done.
But Easter is approaching, and a well earned break just around the corner.
So here’s to all of you who have been grinding it out so far this year.
Good work has been done and spring has begun!

Have you been grinding it out over recent weeks?
This week’s three tips:
SOMETHING TO AVOID 🫣
🤦🏻♀️ “It was difficult winning the match”
When we use “it” as the subject, then it’s followed by an infinitive: “to win”
✅ “It was difficult to win the match”
Otherwise you replace “it” with the gerund “winning”.
Winning the match was difficult
SOMETHING TO SOUND CONFIDENT 🧐
👔 Business expressions
“To push through”
To keep going despite obstacles, fatigue or difficulty.
CE Europa pushed through to get the 3 points.
