Comebacks don’t happen as often as some would like
This week’s three tips:
SOMETHING TO AVOID 🫣
🤦🏻♀️ “He had a payback from the store”
It sounds strange to use payback as you might say devolución in Spanish. Native speakers simply wouldn’t say this.
Although using payback to modify another noun sounds ok:
The project has a 3-year payback period
✅ “The store paid him back”
In this case it’s better to use the verb - to pay someone back.
He hasn’t paid me back yet.
SOMETHING TO SOUND CONFIDENT 🧐
👔 Business expressions
“Pushback”
Resistance or opposition to something.
There has been a lot of pushback against the new policy
