You donβt want to get in Krystalloβs bad books
This weekend Iβm in Murcia with my father.
Heβs semi-retired now, enjoying the Spanish way of life.
On Saturday evening, while chatting over dinner, I was reminded of a story.
Years ago, my sister asked my father for a dog.
Not just any dog, she wanted a Chihuahua.
You know, the tiny ones celebrities carried around in handbags at the time.
βDaaaaad, can I have a Chihuahua, pleeeeease?β
Now, my father is a shrewd businessman. He never gave something away without making sure the other side contributed to the deal.
So he said:
βIβll buy you a Chihuahuaβ¦ if you can spell it.β
She couldnβt.
And that is why she never got her dog.
My sister didnβt fulfil her end of the bargain.
So, always double-check your spelling.
Because misspelling can cost you more than you think: clients, opportunities, or even a Chihuahua.
Until next week!

My sisterβs dream was shattered
This weekβs three tips:
SOMETHING TO AVOID π«£
π€¦π»ββοΈ βI am saying the truthβ
In English you can never say the truth. We use say when we focus on the exact words someone used.
What did she say?
She said, βI donβt think soβ
β βI am telling the truthβ
You always tell the truth. The reason is because we use tell when we focus on giving information, facts, or instructions to someone.
Do you think heβs telling the truth?
That is what he told me.
SOMETHING TO SOUND CONFIDENT π§
π Business expressions
βDot the iβs and cross the tβsβ
This expression means to be extremely careful with details, making sure everything is correct, accurate, and polished before you present it.
It comes from handwriting: if you forget to dot your βiβ or cross your βt,β the word looks incomplete or confusing.
In business (and in English), missing tiny details, like spelling, can undermine your credibility.
Before sending the contract to the client, letβs make sure weβve dotted the iβs and crossed the tβs.
