BEFORE WE DIVE IN

You don’t want to get in Krystallo’s bad books

This weekend I’m in Murcia with my father.

He’s semi-retired now, enjoying the Spanish way of life.

On Saturday evening, while chatting over dinner, I was reminded of a story.

Years ago, my sister asked my father for a dog.

Not just any dog, she wanted a Chihuahua.

You know, the tiny ones celebrities carried around in handbags at the time.

β€œDaaaaad, can I have a Chihuahua, pleeeeease?”

Now, my father is a shrewd businessman. He never gave something away without making sure the other side contributed to the deal.

So he said:

β€œI’ll buy you a Chihuahua… if you can spell it.”

She couldn’t.

And that is why she never got her dog.

My sister didn’t fulfil her end of the bargain.

So, always double-check your spelling.

Because misspelling can cost you more than you think: clients, opportunities, or even a Chihuahua.

Until next week!

My sister’s dream was shattered

This week’s three tips:

SOMETHING TO AVOID 🫣

πŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™€οΈ β€œI am saying the truth”

In English you can never say the truth. We use say when we focus on the exact words someone used.

What did she say?

She said, β€œI don’t think so”

βœ… β€œI am telling the truth”

You always tell the truth. The reason is because we use tell when we focus on giving information, facts, or instructions to someone.

Do you think he’s telling the truth?

That is what he told me.

SOMETHING TO SOUND CONFIDENT 🧐

πŸ‘” Business expressions

β€œDot the i’s and cross the t’s”

This expression means to be extremely careful with details, making sure everything is correct, accurate, and polished before you present it.

It comes from handwriting: if you forget to dot your β€œi” or cross your β€œt,” the word looks incomplete or confusing.

In business (and in English), missing tiny details, like spelling, can undermine your credibility.

Before sending the contract to the client, let’s make sure we’ve dotted the i’s and crossed the t’s.
