BEFORE WE DIVE IN
Do we reckon Krystallo eavesdrops?
Sorry this is late.
We just got back from a delightful weekend in northern Italy with Krystallo’s family.
For details, make sure to watch next week’s newsletter companion.
Basically, I have been driving when and where Krystallo told me to.
And eating too much tiramisu.
But I did get my own back on her father, my father-in-law.
You see when I am a passenger in his car, he likes to drive over speed bumps at full speed.
As a passenger, sat in the back, this is… less than ideal.
I’m British, not to mention a good so-in-law, I don’t say anything.
I just bottle up my feelings.
After a few speed-lumps you lose your appetite for lunch.
Anyway, this time I was the driver.
So I got my own back,
and took a few speed-bumps a little-quicker-than-I-should-have.
I gave him a taste of his own medicine.
He didn’t say a word.
He’s a good father-in-law.

This week’s three tips:
SOMETHING TO AVOID 🫣
🤦🏻♀️ “We arrived to Italy”
We cannot say “arrived to.” Because “arrive” already includes the idea of movement, you’ve reached a destination.
Adding “to” repeats that meaning unnecessarily.
Think of it like this:
“Go to Italy” (movement)
“Arrive in Italy” (arrival — destination already reached)
✅ “We arrived in Italy”
For countries, cities and large areas, we say “in.”
For specific places, buildings and events we use “at”
We arrived in Barcelona this evening
We arrived at Milan airport in the afternoon
SOMETHING TO SOUND CONFIDENT 🧐
👔 Business expressions
“A repeat performance”
If something goes so well that you decide to do it again, we call it a repeat performance.
Our team retreat in Italy was a success, a repeat performance is definitely on the cards.
