If you have ever spent Christmas in the UK there is one dish that is very important.
You see, at Christmas dinner, there are various things on your plate:
Turkey, roast potatoes, carrots, parsnips, brussels sprouts, stuffing, gravy, bread sauce, cranberry sauce. The list goes on.
But there is perhaps one dish that is most people’s favourite.
And that is, the pigs in blankets.
Now there are no pigs, and no blankets - but Brits will be surprised if you don’t like them. Because for us, they are the best part of the meal.
Pigs in blankets are small sausages (the pigs) wrapped in bacon (the blanket).
When a side dish becomes the main event
The thing is they only appear once a year, and this, makes them sacred.
So next time you speak about Christmas to a Brit, ask them how many pigs in blankets they ate.
It won’t be just one.

In English, when all is used as a time expression, we do not use “the.”
If you want you can use the whole day instead:
I spent the whole day with my family
✅ “We were eating all day”
I know that in Spanish you want to say:
todo el día
toda la noche
todo el fin de semana
But in English, never say the.
This Christmas it was sunny all day

“On the back burner”
On the back burner means to delay something or give it lower priority because other things are more urgent.
It doesn’t mean cancelled, just not now.
Think about it literally: when you move something to the back burner, the heat is lower. It’s still cooking, but it’s no longer the priority.
You haven’t turned it off, you’ve slowed it down.
In business, to put something on the back burner means to delay it without cancelling it.
