Because people are only keeping half an eye on the show.

To stop following the logic, structure, or direction of what is being said or discussed, often because of distraction, interruption, or poor organisation. It’s not about intelligence. It’s about broken continuity.
“Sorry, I lost the thread when we changed topics. Can you clarify the main point again?”
